Mass Effect Indoctrination Theory 2019
Mass Effect: IndoctrinationChapter 1Shepard took a deep breath, he could smell the cool, but sooty air of London, as his vision and hearing returned he could hear the sound of warfare going on still, he could hear the sound of Banshee's and Brutes in the distance. The sky was dark and cloudy, and high in the sky he could see the Citadel closed but intact and undamaged.
There were quick wisps of light that raced over head from the gunfire of the enemy, 'Shepard,' a girls voice said, it took him a moment but he eventually recognized that voice, it was Arcee one of his friends from his academy days; she was wearing blue and pink N7 armour and aiming down the sites of a Black Widow sniper Rifle and had a katana style sword on her back with a phalanx pistol on her left hip.' Arcee,' Shepard said confused, 'what is going on?' 'The reaper invasion of course or did your head get hit hard enough that you forgot,' Arcee said aggressively, 'you along with your team were knocked out and the other soldiers with you most of them died.'
Mass Effect Indoctrination Theory Debunked
'But I destroyed the Reapers,' Shepard said, 'when I destroyed the Citadel and the Mass Relays after going through the transporter.' 'What are you talking about,' Arcee spat, 'no one got into the transporter.' 'What about after Harbinger left?' Shepard said, 'Why didn't you try to enter it then?' 'Harbinger only moved a few klicks away to engage our forces on a different front,' Arcee explained, 'and the reason no one entered after he left is because, well because of this.' Arcee turned and faced the transporter the beam of light still active. With the sound of a shot being fired from the Black Widow sniper she was using, Shepard could see there was some sort of barrier around the transporter, 'It was all a trap, that barrier blocks everything from entering it.
Every so often we have to turn and kill the husks that come from it; giving the theory that only Reapers can use the transporter.' 'But I remember surviving Harbingers attack and Anderson and I went through the transporter,' Shepard argued.' Anderson is fighting the Reapers from over there,' Arcee said as she gestured towards the far side of the battlefield. Suddenly a surprised look appeared on Arcee's face, 'Shepard, Harbinger just growled moments before you awoke, a growl that made it go quiet all over this battlefield for a few seconds, even the Reaper forces stopped their movement for a bit.' 'What do you mean by that?' Shepard asked.' Shepard I think you were indoctrinated,' Arcee said.'
No I was fine, I wasn't indoctrinated.' Shepard argued.' Okay Shepard just tell me one thing,' Arcee said seriously, 'if what you said is true and you did destroy the Reapers, Citadel, and the Mass Relays then why are the Reapers still here, why are they not dead and why is the Citadel still hovering above London.' 'I don't know,' Shepard said, 'the Catalyst AI gave me the choices and I destroyed the Reapers then it disappeared.'
'What did the AI look like?' Arcee asked as she fired off a few more rounds from her sniper rifle.'
The kid that died ' Shepard paused as he realised what he was saying, 'when the Reapers invaded.' 'Many kids died when the Reapers invaded,' Arcee countered, 'and just why did the Catalyst AI appear to be exactly like that kid?' 'Then why didn't the Prothean VI detect my indoctrination?' Shepard asked.' It may have been confused since you used the beacon and could understand them,' Arcee said, 'it may have altered your neurological brainwaves causing some sort of interference wave with the indoctrination waves that caused the Prothean VI to not correctly detect your indoctrination.' Arcee took a few more shots with her rifle before continuing, 'Or it could just be something as simple that since you were still fighting indoctrination and the indoctrination hadn't taken over yet, it didn't detect the indoctrination that was inside of you.'
'You've spent more time around the Reapers than anyone else alive and not indoctrinated,' Arcee continued, 'exploring a dead reaper, being around Reaper forces almost continually since Sovereign, going inside the Collector ship and base.' 'So I can't be trusted,' Shepard said and grabbed Arcee's pistol, 'I rather die than be indoctrinated.' The gun fired and landed several metres away, Arcee had slapped the gun away just in time, 'Don't be a fool,' Arcee said, 'you resisted them for this long and you can still resist them. And besides, from what you told me just now, I think you completely destroyed their control over you.' 'Why do you say that,' Shepard asked, 'how can you be so sure?' 'Because I believe in you,' Arcee said, 'and because I think destroying the Citadel and the Mass Relays in your dream was a symbol, you destroyed and severed their control from you. You might very well be immune to indoctrination now.
Besides if you heard Harbinger's roar you might think the same. I never heard anything roar that loudly before even during failed attempts at indoctrination.'
'Shepard,' Tali's voice came and Shepard turned around just in time to be knocked to the ground as Tali jumped on him and embraced him in a big hug, 'Oh, Keelah, I thought you were dead.' Go see Anderson,' Arcee said, 'I'll stay here and keep sniping these creatures as they come and if they get too close I'll just have to use my partner, Reaper here.' She said as she tapped the handle of the Katana that was on her back.' Anderson,' Shepard said as he approached Anderson, Tali and Garrus following close behind.' Shepard,' Anderson said surprised, 'thought we had lost you after that last attack from Harbinger.'
'You almost did,' Shepard said, 'but I couldn't give up,' Shepard then looked towards Tali, 'I still have too much to live for in this world.' 'Shepard,' Tali said softly.' Shepard, it was all a trap,' Anderson said, 'They put up a barrier just in case we somehow managed to get past that Reaper guardian.'
'I know,' Shepard said, 'Arcee told me about the barrier. Do we know where the barrier is being generated from?'
'No,' Anderson said, 'and the longer we try to find out how to get past it the more the fleet is getting hit harder.' 'Shepard,' Arcee yelled as she approached, 'I just thought of a way we might be able to get through the barrier.' 'What,' Anderson said, 'how do you think we could get through?' 'The Geth,' Arcee said blankly, 'on the way here before Harbinger's attack, Tali, you told me that thanks to your friend, Legion, the Geth evolved and they all have Reaper code in them, correct.'
'Yes, but what does that have to do ' Tali began then realised what Arcee's plan was.' Can someone fill me in?' Shepard asked.'
Since the Reaper forces can come from the transporter as they please without having to worry about the barrier going down there must be a reason,' Arcee explained, 'I theorize that all Reaper forces have the Reaper code in them and that the barrier is programmed to only let creatures with that code in.' 'So since the Geth have Reaper code in them, they should be able to pass through the barrier without any problems,' Tali continued, 'and since they can upload themselves into Quarian suits it would probably be easy for them to upload themselves to any suit.' 'And once that is done the suit should be recognized as having Reaper code and thus the barrier will let us pass straight through it,' Arcee finished.'
Was it just me or was it creepy that those two could talk off of each other like that?' Garrus asked. Tali and Arcee looked at each other and giggled at the comment.' It just might work,' Anderson said, 'Shepard, what do you think?' 'If both Arcee and Tali think it will work then I am sure it will.' Shepard said, 'How soon can the Geth get down here?' 'Hacket this is Anderson,' Anderson said, 'can you send any Geth down here to our location?'
'It might be a bit difficult but it shouldn't be a problem,' Hacket said, 'why do you ask?' 'We think we just figured out a way to get through the barrier protecting the transporter,' Anderson explained.' Then I'll do what I can to get some Geth to you,' Hacket said.' But there is a problem,' Arcee said, 'if everyone leaves that will leave the transporter unprotected and enabling the Reapers to come in after us and then we are stuck on the Citadel with Reaper forces being able to come and overrun us there.'
'So it looks like we have to send only a few of our forces in,' Anderson said.' Also if we send to many through the Reapers might realise what we are up to and Harbinger might come back to finish us off,' Arcee said worriedly, 'I think we should send only a very small strike team, no more than eight or nine.'
'My team will go then,' Shepard said.' Agreed,' Anderson said, 'I'll stay behind and command our forces here. Hacket send down eight Geth 'Seven,' Edi said, 'I have Reaper code already inside of me, I do not require any more.' 'Right, Seven Geth ' Anderson tried to continue but was interrupted again.' Eight,' Arcee interrupted, 'I'm going too.' 'Arcee,' Shepard said curiously.'
The last time we fought together was at the battle for Elysium,' Arcee said, 'Besides if any Reaper forces on the Citadel get too close, me and Reaper are the best bet for taking them down quickly.' Shepard nodded his head, 'Right, eight Geth to our location,' Anderson finished sounding a bit annoyed. The Normandy flew low and launched a shuttle that quickly landed near Shepard, his team, Arcee and Anderson. The doors opened up and eight Geth Primes hopped out of the shuttle. 'Shepard, Commander,' the first one said, 'We are here to assist and we brought you this.'
The prime stepped back to reveal the Collector armour.' Figured you could use this armour this time, and its not like you wanted to kill the Reapers in just your under where.' Joker said through the comm. System, 'Time to show them what it is like fighting a Collector.'
'Thanks Joker,' Shepard said over the comm., Shepard put the Collector armour on over his damaged N7 under suit, 'so what are your names?' 'We have designated ourselves under what you would call the Greek alphabet,' the prime said, 'I am Alpha, I will upload myself into your suit.' Alpha's body suddenly went limp and fell to the ground, 'Upload successful.' Alpha said through Shepard's comm. The other Geth bodies went limp as they uploaded themselves into the teams' suits.'
I do not like this,' Javik said, 'knowing that I have an AI in my suits systems is disturbing.' 'If you want to kill the Reapers you'll just have to endure it,' Shepard said.' I said it was disturbing,' Javik said, 'but if it will allow killing the Reapers, then I will endure it. It just had better not deactivate my air supply in the vacuum of space.' 'Alright,' Shepard said, 'time to finish this fight.' Shepard and his team approached the transporter. Shepard could feel his heart rate increase knowing that he was finally going to see what the Citadel actually looked like now, and wondered if it was going to look like it had during his indoctrination dream.
