It will end up being a while until they patch it to perfection, which when you think about it, is a really good anti-piracy tactic the scene won't want to bother recracking it 20 times, lol.I bought it on it's first day out, same as with ArmA 1 and Op Flashpoint the games by BIS have always had issues until they got patched to high heaven. They're always worth the wait, but just a shame that this time around it's making the game pretty much unplayable for me and my buddies. This has the makings of a really good game all you need is the time and paitence, it is a game that will last a long time, but like i read somwhere else if you want an easy game like cod Modern warfare this will not be your cup of tea, i nearly gave up on this the first day i had it but i decided to give it a bit more time and i'm starting to get into it.as i have not played arma 1 and operation flashpoint this is my first time playing this kind of game. But after putting in a few hours into it, i can already tell this wont be game i will be putting down for a while.
My advice is to give the bootcamp a short go just to familiarise yourself with the controls and then ditch that and move onto the actual campaign. But unless you have a decent pc you wont get the full quallity of the game and make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date too.hope this helps with your decision. @3 ScottARMA 2 is basically a soldier simulator. Battlefield 2 is a fast paced arcade shooter. One type of game takes patience and tactical thinking, the other twitch skills.I've tried Arma 2 though and I was not impressed it's got so many issues that it's just no fun.
If you want to try out some realistic style gameplay I'd recommend you check out the BF2 mod 'Project Reality' instead. It, just as Arma 2, requires lots of patience and you basically have to read the manual to understand what's going on. After you've done that though it's the more fun of the two, in my opinion anyway.
This is a pretty accurate War Sim, if your into Rocket jumping and crap like that, then this game is not for you.It may literally take you an hour setting up an ambush before you even take the first shot. It takes a long time to get into this game, but when you do your satisfied like no other game can do for you. When you meticulously have your squad crawl on their bellies for what seems like miles, then set up the perfect vantage point, have your sqaud 'hold fire' until the enemy emerges, THEN open up on them, aaaah. Nothing like this. I think the makers of this game are ridiculously stupid for implementing the horrible mouse control they use in this game. It's like mouse acceleration to the max.

They think they are simulating the 'weight' of a real gun so that it can feel like you are using a real gun. All they are doing is taking away any precise control. I know it's not but it FEELS like a console port because of this horrible mouse control.I can respect that they think this is something good to have in their game, but I think they should have an option to turn it off.
