How To Beat Wood Elves As Bretonnia
Contents Features. The main features of the mod are as follows. 13 factions to fight for or against: Empire, Lizardmen, Tomb Kings, Badlands Goblins, Pirates, Orcs, Dwarfs, Bretonnia, Chaos, Dark Elves, High Elves, Araby and Skaven. Every faction has tons of new armours, items and mounts which can be bought from merchants. Each faction has it's own troop types and lords, which are close to their Warhammer armies.
Big monsters to hire or fight including Trolls, Ratogres, Ogres, Kroxigors and Ushabti. The ability to become a player character of every faction race in the game.
I haven't fought them myself yet, but my understanding is they have a lot of large units and very good ranged units, but are susceptable to ranged units and fire themselves. IE glass cannons. So fielding an army with shields and anti-large (an anti-large built lord would be convinient) and fire arrows would probably be my first port of call.I understand your fire arrows will do most of the work since your archers will be targeting as many unit types as possible, especially against their flying units, so i'd definitely upgrade your lords ammo pool perk, but unfortunately the best treatment against them i'd have said would be artillery which Bretonnia sorely lack. If you want to give fighting WE a go, your best bet would be dwarves, their crossbowman are reliable and their artillery will be decisively effective, not to mention their passive 25% resistance to magic makes them more durable than the average.Your anti-large cavalry should be a must, but i fear the sheer mobility of the WE will out perform Britonnians general cavalry line up (their archers shoot on the move), lord knows i've had issues 'out-cavalrying' the 'very-fast' cavalry of the Orcs as Britonnia, so lesson learnt there. But i'm speaking mostly theory here. I'm just finishing up my first Britonnian campaign and they're the one race i haven't fought against properly yet since generally speaking they behave relatively neutrally during the campaign so if you don't antagonise them they tend not to bother you and the fewer fronts i have to fight, the better. Plus my Britonnian tactics leave a little to be desired, most of my battles are closer calls than i'd like to admit, but for some convinient messups by the AI, almost all my battles hinge on whether i can keep the enemy army away from my peasent bowmen. Leadership can be a real bottle neck for the Brits.
Wood Elves From The Hobbit
Dealing with Wood Elves, you'll probably want at least 2 full stack armies for each of their settlements. If you can swing 3 full stack armies, so much the better.
How To Beat Wood Elves As Bretonnia 2
It's brutal and the losses will be considerable, but it'll work even in autoresolve. You want pure numbers against them, ideally artillery and shielded units. The first lot will die quite quickly, but that'll exhaust the enemy and really reduce their ammunition.
Your second (and/or third) army will then find it much easier to move in and kill them off.Just remember that even when they declare war on you, they almost never actually leave the forest. The surrounding dwarf lands are their preferred target for that - they'll move out to take Karak Izor, Karak Hirn and Karak Norn quite a lot more than they will try to invade Bretonnia - so you can take your time building up armies specifically designed to take them on.
